American Dance Festival: Made in NC Celebration
Made in NC is the perfect celebration showcase—featuring world premieres of four ADF-commissioned works by incredible North Carolina-based artists. As part of ADF’s celebration in Cary, dance masterclasses are continuing at the Cary Arts Center and Graceful Expressions Dance Studio in the weeks leading up to the performance, featuring the same four incredible ADF-commissioned artists who will take the stage September 19.
Meet the Creative Minds
Alejandro Cerrudo, Charlotte Ballet’s artistic director, brings international flair from Madrid to Chicago. Gerri Houlihan has shared her expertise at ADF since 1981, continuing to teach at Durham’s Samuel H. Scripps Studios. Norberto “Betto” Herrera founded Mambo Dinamico Dance Company in Morrisville after immigrating from Ecuador and now teaches Afro-Latin dance at Carmen’s Cuban Cafe. Tanu Sharma, originally from India, has made her mark through cultural outreach and memorable performances like Dancing with the Carolina Stars at Durham’s Carolina Theatre.
This outdoor encore performance connects us to nearly a century of dance history. Made in North Carolina is a feast for all dance enthusiasts!
