BEYOND: The Cary Film Festival Workshops
Each fall in the heart of North Carolina, Cary hosts its annual short film and screenplay festival presented at the historic Cary Theater. Engaged audiences, new and established filmmakers, industry professionals, and special guests come together to celebrate the art of short filmmaking.
Filmmakers and audiences can expect to experience the best short films from around the world. Attendees will have opportunities to participate in panel discussions, workshops, and more. BEYOND is designed to support emerging filmmakers with all events and social activities taking place within walking distance of our downtown theater. In this 8th Edition of BEYOND, join The Cary Theater as they host the following workshops in Downtown Cary Park. Tickets are required in order to attend each workshop.
Sara Elizabeth Timmins established Life Out Loud Films in 2008 to create quality, inspiring impact films that champion women. Her films have been seen in theatres, HBO, Amazon, Netflix, The Hallmark Channel, Starz, Showtime and internationally. She has worked with Oscar & Emmy winning talents like Jane Seymour, Ellen Burstyn, Chris Cooper, Josh Lucas and Mackenzie Foy and writers like NY Times Best Selling Author David Baldacci. She is also a film consultant/coach and founder of NO FILM SCHOOL. NO TRUST FUND. NO PROBLEM., a program she created to elevate emerging voices and to create community and education while fostering inspiration and authenticity for indie filmmakers. Sara Elizabeth believes she has a responsibility through film to spark conversations, that inspire action, that ignites change.
- Crafting Your Film & Investor Decks

- The DECK is your number one marketing material/door opener for your film. Nailing it is key to getting the meeting or getting your script read. In this workshop, we go “behind the scenes” for a SNEAK PEEK at Decks that have attracted over $15M in film funding! You will gain insight so you can craft your own with knowledge, understanding, and confidence.

- Don’t know where to look for funding? Does the business side (contracts, investor docs, etc.) make your head spin? Does asking for money make you nervous? We will dive into ways to obtain financing for your film with a focus on private equity. We’re going to give you our best secrets, tips and tricks for finding, pitching, and securing quality equity investors. You will spend LESS time worrying, and MORE time making your dream project!
