International Dance Day with Graceful Expressions

Join us for the International Day of Dance Festival organized by Graceful Expressions. Celebrate the universal language of dance and the joy of movement through free workshops for all ages and ability levels. Morning sessions will be offered for seniors and preschoolers with more pop-up classes for older kids and adults in late afternoon and early evening. The day will finish with a performance featuring community groups from all around Cary. You’ll even be able to join in a flash mob finale!

• Dance Workshops taking place in Academy Pavilion
  • 10:45-11:30 a.m.: Senior Dance class
    • For all abilities and experience levels. 
  • 12-12:45 p.m.: Adult contemporary dance class
    • Take a mid-day break and get moving! Class is for all levels, ages 18 and up
  • 2-2:45 p.m.: Family Dance and Storytime
    • Join us for an interactive story and dance class — for kids of all ages and their grown ups! 
  • 3-3:45 p.m.: Contemporary Dance class
    • For Ages 10 and up. All levels are invited to participate in this contemporary dance class
  • 4-4:45 p.m.: K-Pop tutorial
    • For Ages 10 and up. Join Queen and Princess for a K-Pop tutorial!
  • 4:45-5:30 p.m.: “Wicked” choreography tutorial
    • For ages 8 and up. Learn choreography from the “book dance” in the popular film “Wicked”.
• Activities on Frantz Square Lawn
  • 2-4p.m.: Dance themed free play including ribbon wands, hoops and music!
• Throughout the Park
  • 4:45-5:15 p.m.: There will be site-specific dance performances throughout the Park, so keep an eye out for these!
• Dance Workshops and Performances taking place on the Great Lawn Pavilion or Great Lawn
  • 11:15-11:45 a.m.: Preschool Dance and Storytime
    • Join us for an interactive story and dance class! 
  • 4:15-4:45 p.m. and 5-5:30 p.m.: Kids Dance Combo class on the Great Lawn
    • Perfect for kids ages 5-10, we’ll have fun with ballet, jazz and hip hop steps! Sneakers and play clothes are fine for class. 
  • 5:30-6:15 p.m.: Dance Party for all ages!
    • Enjoy line dances and other dance party hits!
  • 6:30-8 p.m.: Performances by the following groups
    • Triangle Dance 4 Life
    • Queen & Princess K-Pop duo
    • Willie Hinton African Dance
    • Graceful Expressions clogging dancers
    • Oriental Culture Dance
    • NC Brazilian Art Project
    • Carolina Dance Theater
    • Argentine Tango finishing with a group line dance lesson
