Juneteenth Celebration

Jun 20, 2026
4:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Downtown Cary Park

Join us at the Park for a jubilant Juneteenth Celebration curated by Historian Darrell Stover! Experience the spirit of “freedom dance” as movement takes center stage, honoring expression, resilience, and joy through live performances and moments that invite everyone to join in. Enjoy delicious bites from food trucks and explore vibrant vendors as we celebrate culture, community, and the power of dance.

Celebrated annually, Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union General Gordon Granger read federal orders in Galveston, Texas, that all previously enslaved Black people in the state were free. Today, Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. It is a day marked with celebrations and special gatherings.

See below for the full schedule of the day! All performances will be on the Great Lawn Pavilion.
