School BreakOUT!
Our February 16 School BreakOUT! will now take place from 1–7 p.m. since this date will be a Wake County Schools in-person make-up day. We hope everyone can swing by after school now to enjoy a variety of art projects and end the day on a creative note!
All aboard for a day full of color, creativity, and crafty fun at our School BreakOUT! Inside Academy Pavilion, kids will be invited to explore a variety of artist-led, hands-on activities designed to spark imagination and creativity. From painting and ceramics to drawing and open-ended building, each station will offer a project kids can proudly take home. All activities will be free and available while supplies last, making it the perfect way to spend a school-free day together.
Between 1 – 7 p.m., families can create pearler bead designs with Lauren Hooper of Lauren Likes and turn them into wearable necklaces, paint 2D ceramic figurines with Cozy Panda to take home the same day, and let imaginations run wild with Hello Yellow Art Studio using a variety of materials, including scrap and recycled items, to create one-of-a-kind art.
Artists from the Cary Arts Center will lead rotating, hands-on art experiences throughout the day. From 1 – 3 p.m., Brittney Soderman will lead a mosaic wood slice workshop, inviting kids to explore patterns and abstract design using tiles and mixed materials. From 2:30 – 4:30 p.m., Marisa Mode-Lukas will guide participants through simple mini watercolor resist paintings, using oil pastels and watercolor to create vibrant designs. From 2 – 4 p.m., Alberto Lung will host a playful Chibi manga workshop, teaching participants how to turn simple doodle shapes into adorable human and animal characters, with warm-up coloring pages featuring Chibi characters enjoying the park.
When it’s time for a sweet break, don’t forget to stop by Spunderful’s cotton candy cart. They will be onsite with treats available for purchase.
