Looking for a fun and creative way to spend your school break? Join us at Downtown Cary Park for our School BreakOUT in the Park! Dive into a day of excitement with lawn games, crafts, and the magical world of shadow puppetry with Matt Sandbank, a talented shadow puppeteer from Durham, NC.
Drop into Academy Pavilion to explore Shadow Lab, a series of interactive stations where young people experience hands-on learning about the science and art of shadow-making and even have the opportunity to create their own shadow puppet! Don’t miss Matt’s captivating performance of “A Wild Goose Chase,” happening mid-day, where poems spring hilariously to life on the shadow puppet screen. It’s the perfect blend of creativity, discovery, and fun for all ages. Plus, you can check out Matt’s YouTube channel, Shadow School, to dive into the magic early!
- 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.: Lawn Games on Frantz Square Lawn
- 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.: Art Cart on the Academy Plaza
- 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.: Shadow Lab with Matt Sandbank in Academy Pavilion
- 12 – 3 p.m.: Ty’s All Natural Food Truck along S Academy St (beside Academy Pavilion)
- 1 – 2 p.m.: Shadow Puppet Performance of “A Wild Goose Chase” with Matt Sandbank in Academy Pavilion
