Summer BreakOUT!

Jun 15, 2026
4:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Downtown Cary Park

Kick off summer in the best way possible at our Summer BreakOUT in the Park! This fun-filled day is all about creative, budget-friendly ways for families to stay active once school is out, with hands-on activities, simple crafts, and playful learning you can recreate at home.

Between Frantz Square Lawn and Academy Pavilion, discover ways to stay inspired all season long. The Cary Arts Center will lead a hands-on Mini Marble & Model Magic Sculpture project while sharing additional ideas for take-home art, The Scrap Exchange will show how to turn recycled materials into creative masterpieces, and Mad Science will bring engaging STEM activities that make learning at home fun and accessible.

The NC Museum of Natural Sciences will offer an interactive “Meet the Animals” experience, where guests can explore fascinating creatures and even touch one. Guests can also enjoy the NC Museum of History’s Pop-Up State Symbols Scavenger Hunt. While the NC Museum of History is currently closed for renovation, they continue to offer fun and free community programming. This is also a great reminder that many of our downtown Raleigh museums offer free admission and make for a perfect summer outing!

You can also give back while you’re here! Read and Feed will be collecting new or gently used children’s books for grades K–5 to help build home libraries for local students. Expect classic summer fun, a few exciting surprises, and plenty of ideas to take home for a season full of creativity, curiosity, and connection. The collection bin will be available in Guest Services on June 15 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can read more about Read and Feed here.
